Jepara, 16th July 2020 PT. Bhumi Jati Power (hereinafter “BJP”) as the project company of Tanjung Jati B Unit 5 & 6 Project (hereinafter the “Project”) had a tasting event for catfish as a harvest from the Communal Cow Farm Program (hereinafter the “Program”) on 16 and 17 July 2020. Almost all employees in BJP at Jepara office and PT. Bhumi Jepara Service (hereinafter “BJS”) as the operation and maintenance company in the Project have joined the event and tasted the crispy fried catfish in lunch time.

This Program is one of the sustainable CSR programs of BJP, which has been officially commenced since February 2020. In this Program, the members of Ternak Makmur Bhumi Jaya (hereinafter “TMB Jaya”), which is a group consists of 20 villagers in Sekuping, Tubanan village for this Program, are implementing an integrated livestock management with the various fields. Under the Program, catfishes are being cultivated by feeding bio-slurry produced from cow dung through fermentation process. This catfish cultivation has been started since March 2020 with total 5,000 catfishes filled into 5 fish ponds (1,000 catfishes / pond), and totally 136 kilogram of catfishes have been sold as of the end of July 2020.

Additionally, organic vegetables, such tomato, chili, garlic and spices, have been used as the ingredients of sauce for the fried catfish, which are also being cultivated in the Program by organic fertilizer produced from cow dung and urine. As of the end of July 2020, total 27 kilogram of vegetable and 315 trees of vegetable have been sold.

This event was held with the purpose to socialize and promote the Program to all employees in BJP and BJS, as well as to trigger the spirit of TMB Jaya to improve the quality of their products. According to feedback from the employees, most of them highly appreciated the taste of fried catfish, especially for the tenderness of meat texture. TMB Jaya analysed that these excellences resulted from a wide variety of organic feed such as fermented moringa, papaya leaves, duckweed and maggot in addition to bio-slurry.

Mr. Ari Wibawa, CSR Manager of BJP comments as sum-up of this event “This activity aims to introduce and to promote the products of breeder group that fostered by our CSR program to BJP and BJS employees. We hope that employees could aware what CSR activities are going on in the surrounding community, and we expect that more and more employees could support and be involved in our CSR activities with this event as a start.”

BJP will continuously support this Program to develop and establish the sustainable operation system as well as to enhance the competitiveness of the products, together with all the members in TMB Jaya.
