Environmental Campaign with BJP at SDN 1 Kaliaman

Jepara, 29th January 2024 – PT Bhumi Jati Power (hereinafter “BJP”) has conducted an environmental campaign at SDN 1 Kaliaman, an elementary school located in Kaliaman Village. This campaign was the part of BJP’s commitment to support SDN 1 Kaliaman for implementing the Adiwiyata School Program. Since 2019, the BJP has continuously supported SDN 1 Kaliaman in the implementation of the Adiwiyata Program through various activities. Then, in 2021 SDN 1 Kaliaman obtained the Adiwiyata School award at the Jepara Regency level. Continuing our support in the Adiwiyata Program implementation, BJP accompanies SDN 1 Kaliaman in the preparation for the Adiwiyata School assessment at the Central Java Province level.

Adiwiyata School Program is the program initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia (MoEF) to encourage environmental awareness at the school level regarding reducing and eliminating the impact of climate change. The MoEF provides rewards for the schools that show remarkable achievements at each government level, which means at regency, province, and national levels, and the highest is the independent level.

Other than delivering campaigns with environmental topics related to the Adiwiyata School Program, BJP also donated several assistance to support the activities of the Adiwiyata School Program. The assistance that has been handed over is in the form of mini waste bank bins, trees planted, and tumblers/drinking bottles for all students. As one of the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R) campaigns, the BJP also supports paints to recycle used tires to be furniture.

The event was started by a welcoming speech from the Headmaster of SDN 1 Kaliaman, Mr. Karmuji. In his speech, he expressed his appreciation to the BJP for supporting SDN 1 Kaliaman to achieve the Adiwiyata School award at the province level. “We are very grateful to the BJP for supporting us from 2019 until now. Hopefully, SDN 1 Kaliaman could obtain the Adiwiyata award at the provincial level this year.”

Mr. Ari Wibawa as the BJP CSR Manager also delivered some messages in his speech. “The most important thing in implementing the Adiwiyata School Program is to improve behaviors first. When environmentally caring behaviors become a habit, other things will follow.”

In this event, the students are happy to receive the tumbler, so they can reduce single-bottle utilization. They are also excited and committed to implementing the 3R program as part of the Adiwiyata School principle, such as throwing away rubbish in waste bins, sorting rubbish, and using household waste in their respective homes to make organic fertilizer.

BJP strives to support educational and environmental programs as committed in the company pillars through the CSR Program.
